In English, we are working on an assignment where we have to research an FNMI topic. My topic was the truth and reconciliation commission (TRC). If you don't know what a TRC is, then here is a bit of information:
"The TRC is a component of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement.
Its mandate is to inform all Canadians about what happened in Indian Residential Schools (IRS). The Commission will document the truth of survivors, families, communities and anyone personally affected by the IRS experience.
This includes First Nations, Inuit and Métis former Indian Residential School students, their families, communities, the Churches, former school employees, Government and other Canadians."

There are also 2 articles that we had to compare in our assignment. The first one is by an amazing author, Desmond Tutu, who talks a lot about what has happened in our passed anf that we can fix it with just forgiveness. Please read Desmond's article he is so inspiring. I love what he says near the end: "True reconciliation is based on forgiveness, and forgiveness is based on true confession, and confession is based on penitence, on contrition, on sorrow of what you have done." (Tutu, 2004).

The second article is by a group of university students (probably a school project) but it is very informative and has no bias. This article is for those who would really love to learn a lot more about TRC's. The first thing at they say in the first paragraph is: "TRC's are associated with several goals and expected outcomes, including healing, justice, and peace-building". These are very intelligent students so please read their article!.
